چکیده

T HE PELGER-HU1 T ( P-H ) anomaly of leukocytes is a benign, dominant hereditary trait which primarily affects the granulocytic leukocytes. Poor segmentation and abnormal condensation of nuclear chromatin are characteristic of this anomaly, which has been described in humans,1’2 rabbits3 and more recently in the dog.4 Klein et al.5 have extensively reviewed the literature prior to 1955. Skendzel and Hoffman#{176} have recently reviewed 41 human cases of the anomaly. Rosse and Gurney7 used Pelger-Huet cells to demonstrate the intravascular survival of transfused neutrophils. Recent studies8 of neutrophils labeled with diisopropylfluorophosphate ( DFP32) have confirmed Rosse and Gurney’s earlier estimate of 6 to 8 hours half-time ( Tl/2). This paper will report the intravascular survival of transfused canine PelgerHu#{235}t neutrophils and eosinophils.

A 12-year-old boy was seen for abdominal pain and sent to the lab. For CBC. Even though CBC was normal in peripheral smear many of neutrophils (PMN) had only two lobes, with diagnosis of Pelger-Huet anomaly. CBC was performed on parents and three siblings which revealed the same type of anomaly in the mother and the other three children. The father was normal. This anomaly was first described b...

Severe generalized muscular atrophia, nerve optic atrophia, ear problem and disability with Pelger-Huet anomaly

Background: The Pelger-Huet anomaly dominantly is a rare and benign inherited defect of terminal neutrophil differentiation. Although neutrophil migration may be minimally impaired, granulocytes function is otherwise normal association abnormalities such as ocular, musculoskeletal are reported very rare. Case: An eight year-old boy with good consciousness but severe muscular atrophia and diffic...

Like son, like father.

Pelger-Huet anomaly is a rare autosomal dominant disorder characterized by pince-nez appearance of the nuclei of the neutrophils. This is caused by failure of nuclear segmentation due to genetic defect in the LBR (laminin B-receptor) on the chromosome 1q41-43. Heterozygotes have dumbbell-shaped or hyposegmented neutrophils with coarse chromatin and normal granules. Homozygotes have neutrophils ...

A predominance of hyposegmented neutrophils and eosinophils containing condensed chromatin and normal cytoplasm were ...
